Professor Stuart MacDonald OBE was one of Scotland's leading fine artists' of his generation. He was Head of Gray's School of Art and founding Director of The Lighthouse, Scotland's national centre for design and architecture. In aid of his passing, his wife Catherine MacDonald curated an celebratory exhibition of his life and art at the Briggait, Glasgow.
We worked very closely with Catherine to create promotional materials for the exhibition.
"In the late summer of 2017 we had been looking for a designer for several months who could could produce everything we required for a Retrospective Exhibition in a very short time-scale. It was a large undertaking and no-one I had spoken to given the nature of the exhibition, the time and cost constraints gave me a feeling it was do-able.
Creative Rain a young company run by Alasdair Dimmick & Stan Sumner were approached. From my initial discussions with them and looking at the still unfinished drafts, images, texts & ideas they were supportive and positive. They had a great sense of what we were trying to achieve and accepted the work.
Immediately they began helping transform ideas into the practical solutions we needed. They were incredibly sensitive to our needs, listening and patiently suggesting changes, re-working designs and layouts for Exhibition booklets, signage and promotional materials. Cleverly keeping us on track and on time. It was wonderful to work with such responsive open- minded and caring individuals who are inspirational and talented Graphic & Web designers.
I recommend them as young designers to any individual or company who are seeking personal and creative solutions."
